GEEK. I CRY GEEK ON MYSELF. GEEEEEEKKKKKK DRAGONESS.

Today I tried both of the new WoW Mtn Dew drinks. The Horde one was definitely more tasty. *nodnods* DEFINITELY.

Mountain Dew Game Fuel Horde Banner

Gah! I'm geeking over a game! Shoot me now!

That being said, damn do I ever love this game. Even if I'm lonely and upset half hte time, I do so love my rogue.

Even if I was a dumbass and did not know there were other tabs in the talent points, thus at level 41, have a rogue who is only good with assassination, lol. Yar, that was the dumbass thing I discovered last night. Poor me. Still a newb.

I hate to tell you this, but dwarves definitely trump undead. xD

I haven't tried either flavor, though the horde one is identical to the Halo one that came out earlier this year. I'll still give it a try. x}

The alliance one is HEAVY on the guava fruit juice taste, and I HATE guava with a passion, lol. Thus why I hate it. hahaha.

The only thing that worries me about the drinks is that they contain, of all things, vegetable oil. That just sounds gross, and not something that should be something we drink, lol. But I'm a paranoid sort like that.

And dwarves are short. and stubby. :p Rogue is fast, can stealth, and can sneak into cities and murder kings. They win, lol. :P

Oh that does sound weird. Veggie oil, huh?

xD Bakel used to play a dwarf rogue. It was the most badass thing in T2 gear.

Would you mind a question? Can you explain how gear works? I don't know what it means when people talk about tiers and such. All I know is that I equip whatever is better than what I already have, if I'm at a high enough level to use it, lol. I dont' get what it means when folks start talking about tiers and whatever in hell the colors of the gear mean, lol.
Onisyra: (Misc) Hooray![info]onisyra on May 31st, 2009 04:57 am (UTC)
I can explain someeee about gear. The tier stuff drops in raids, mostly. It's actual sets of equipment that give you bonuses if you get 2, 4, 6, etc pieces of it.
As far as colors, it goes orange>purple>blue>green>white>grey. Although that's not always true, a level 20 blue is worse than, say, a level 50 green. x}

I wish I could find a picture of the T2 rogue set!

8D I completely forgot about that! Hooray! Thank you!

Rogue T2 and Priest T5-6 are the best on dwarves. x}

EVERYTHING IS BETTER ON DORFS.

x} I'm a big fan of horde, Thrall is my favorite character, 'sides from Jaina. I've got a few toons on the hordeside and my first character was horde, so I really prefer it as far as lore and stuff goes.

@.@ I'm addicted to dwarves though. I can't help it.
Spyke[info]spykie90 on May 31st, 2009 05:54 am (UTC)
XD I saw the t2 dwarf female rouge and shivered... it was soo much creepier on the little dwarf XD

Yeah my first character was a Draenei but she was on my fiance's old account that got banned. I love Draenei but I reaaaly love tauren females. XD

here's an easier way to narrow it down for you- as a rouge you need two stats- Agility and Stamina, maybe a little strength =)

no intell spirit or spell damage =)

as for your talent tabs, it's better to stick to ONE talent specialization, and once you get to higher levels, you can put a few points in other tabs to compliment your main spec.

here- she's only 64 and her gear is kinda crappy, but here's my rogue:

That helps, thank you. ^___^

Ooh, I didn't know a person could look their character up like that. I looked mine up, lol. This is her:

*points up* What Lougara said about the important stats for you is spot on, Agility and Stamina, with a smattering of Strength thrown in. If you hover your mouse over the words 'Agility' 'Strength' ect on your character sheet, it tells you what sort of bonus that stat gives to your character. Agility for a rogue gives the best and most bonuses. Stick with leather gear (since you wont often but sometimes might find cloth with decent stats) and have at it.

The most important thing though, especially on a first character, is to have fun! And it seems like you are, so that's awesome. :D And hooray for horde. XD

IGnore what people say about strength for a rogue, it is useless. <.< One agility is equal to one strength for a rogue in terms of attack power, but agility also gives crit, dodge, and some armor. You never want to be taking strength over agility on a rogue.

When you start getting higher, you'll find gear with crit rating, Attack Power, hit rating.. all that. Once you get that high, hit rating will be very important, but the basics still apply. =}

If you wanna do a TON more damage, switch your sword to your mainhand, and pick up sword specialization. Also go run Ramparts and get the sword that drops from the first boss. =}

Gear! There are three types of gear - Bind on Pickup (BoP), Bind on Equip (BoE), and Binds on Account (BoA). BoP stuff you'll get from questing, crafting, and dungeons. BoE stuff drops from pretty much everywhere (explained more below), and BoA stuff is usually purchased with Marks of various types, which you earn from running dungeons, PvP, all sorts of different way. Your boyfriend can go into more detail about BoA, but it's a neat system to trade gear from one of your characters to another (like now, I have an 80 who bought some BoA pieces and sent them to one of my lower level characters to help level with)

Here's a general rundown on gear, color wise -
Grey items are junk, and pretty worthless to equip once you're out of your starting few levels.

White items tend to be stuff you wouldn't wear in combat, like tuxedos, dresses, costumes...it isn't used much on PvE servers (such as yours, and mine), but probably plays a larger role on RP servers, when dressing up might actually mean something. That ring your rogue BF gave you is probably a white.

Green items are either world drops from mobs (short for "mobile", the word we use for monsters that aren't bosses, aka, trash), or quest rewards. Greens will be your bread and butter until you start getting into higher levels, and even up in the 70s and 80s, you'll be wearing a lot of greens.

Blues are usually better than greens, and usually have better stats. They tend to either be boss drops, or rewards at the end of a long quest chain. These occasionally drop off of trash mobs, too!

Purples are the so-called "epics." They're what eventually you want to be decked out in when you're Senior Badass and all high level. You'll get Purples from the last boss in higher dungeons, through various trade skills at higher levels, from the auction house, or from very generous guildies. There aren't many purple BoEs, so chances are you're going to be earning most of your purples.

Getting into tiers, you're probably only going to be aiming for Tier 7/7.5, Tier 8. The reason you won't start with T1 and go up is because it's outdated. The tier level denotes when the gear was originally released, so you'll find T1 stuff in the Molten Core raid, T2 BlackWing Lair/Onyxia, T3 Classic Naxxramas (no longer exists), etc. Nobody does these raids anymore until they hit 80 and can just go trash through them for the hell of it, but back in the day they were very tough fights (or so I'm told). If you start raiding, you're going to start in Naxxramas (current) in Northrend, and that instance drops either T7/T7.5, depending on if you're in a 10-man or 25-man raid group. The bigger the group, the better the loot.

Why would you want tier gear? It's class specific. So my druid gear, for instance, gives me a bonus to the spells that I use as a druid. If I'm wearing 2 pieces of T7/T7.5, I get 10% more damage to my Insect Swarm. If I'm wearing 4 pieces (I actually have all 5), I get the Insect Swarm bonus plus my Wrath and Starfire spells get an additional 5% to crit. As a rogue, you would be going after the Bonescythe Battlegear set. 2-piece bonus is an additional 10% to your Rupture, and 4-piece bonus reduces the energy cost of your Combo Moves by 5%.

And hell, tier gear just looks cool. <3

Hope I didn't bore you or confuse you too much. We can discuss enchants, gem socketing, etc, when you're farther along in the game. It's all so overwhelming!

Oh, and don't feel bad about only noticing the first tab with your talent points. I did the same thing - how do you think I ended up Balance instead of Feral or Resto? Moonkin are the best kin, though. <3 <3 <3

Oh, thank you so much for all that information! Very helpful!

I'm seeing what happened to me now though. My boyfriend bought a bunch of blues for me when I got to level 25 or so, so I never understood what that meant.

I'm finding now, as I'm questing, the things I get from quests suit my character more than most of what he gave me. Except the weoponry (is it just me, or is it damned hard to find a good weopon in this game? That's driving me nuts!).

I've been told that a person CAN'T go raiding until they're 80, so while its good to know now what all that means, I don't know if I'm ever going to even get to a level capable of going on raids (as fun as it sounds, lol).

That's the set my boyfriend has. This is his character: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Hakkar&n=Ssesheth

I feel a bit better now though, knowing more about these things. I'm so glad you explained about all that. ^___^
